Partnership Planning

The P-12 Project has developed numerous partnerships between The Ohio State University and Ohio public schools, especially those serving students from underrepresented populations. Campus visits by P-12 students, focused on developing college aspirations, are a key feature of these partnerships.

From this experience, the P-12 Project has developed tools and resources for systematic planning of partnership events. This page includes links to these resources (Word and Excel files), which were developed by Kathy Cameron, former graduate assistant for the P-12 Project. An article by Kathy on The Principal's Office website provides more advice for school partnerships:

Timelines

Timelines for planning campus visits and events for school students help planners organize the event. Links are provided for a general planning timeline and one specific to Ohio State.

Helpful Hints

These hints will help ensure a successful event.  Special hints have been developed regarding overnight visits and camps. Have a suggestion for a helpful hint that is not here?  E-mail p12@osu.edu.

Contact Lists

Two types of blank contact lists are provided to help planners keep track of all people involved in the partnership. A list of contacts compiled from years of partnerships in which the P-12 Project has been involved is provided to assist with planning. Note that inclusion on this list does not imply that the contact person will be available to assist with all partnerships, just that they have done so at least once in the past.  Considering all sources and brainstorming fully to come up with contact people for events is best.
