Neighborhood Schools Project
After-School and Summer Youth Programs Subcommittee
Goal 1. Facilitating and Developing the Community Collaborative and
Partnership
The after-school and summer youth programs subcommittee wants to
strengthen relationships amongst all members of the community, from
parents/neighbors to the organizations to the staff at OSU. We want
to strengthen the ties between each and also provide structure that
maximizes all involved parties’ time and effort. We also strive
to strengthen the relationships between other youth outreach efforts
and the P-12 Project with this subcommittee.
Goal 2. Increasing Parent Involvement and Leadership
The after-school and summer youth programs subcommittee wants to
increase parent involvement and community participation in schools
and youth organizations, and also provide information to these parties
as to the best practices to do this. We also want to develop a support
network through Time! Dollar Programs at Medary Elementary and Indianola
Middle Schools so that no parent or resident in the community feels
isolated.
Goal 3. Enhancing Quality Youth Development Program
The after-school and summer youth programs subcommittee strives to
nurture the connections between schools and out-of-school programs,
mostly through the creation of teacher liaison positions in schools.
The subcommittee also wants to provide support to the funders of youth
development programs and the programs themselves, and create marketing
tools that can help recruit additional resources and advocate for youth
development programs.
