Summit on Educational and Economic Synthesis in Central Ohio

More than 70 central Ohio community and educational leaders met for a working summit to:2007 Summit

  • Identify and discuss regional trends, data availability, and data needs in various sectors of Greater Columbus and central Ohio
  • Lay the groundwork for a cross-sector, user-friendly, data-driven understanding of the patterns that are shaping the transitions within our region in order to enhance educational and economic capacity, including math, science, and technology.

The information and suggestions generated during this summit will be used in developing a usable synthesis of the educational, economic, and social realities of the metro area. Speakers included Dr. Brad Mitchell, Educational Council CEO; Diane Bennett, Executive Director, Action for Children; Dr. Gene Harris, Superintendent, Columbus Public Schools; Dr. Nancy Nestor-Baker, Director, P-12 Project; Roberta Garber, Executive Director, Community Research Partners; Barbara Diamond, KnowledgeWorks Program Officer; Nancy Reger, Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission; and Bill LaFayette, Central Ohio Chamber of Commerce.
